Owatonna football coach Jeff Williams was recently named as one of six individuals who will be enshrined into the Minnesota Football Coaches Association Hall-of-Fame during a banquet this upcoming spring.

Williams — who won his 200th career game in Week 1 this past season — will enter under the High School Division along with fellow MSHSL coaching staple Carl Fruechte of Caledonia as well as Dan Essler (New London-Spicer), Mike Kleinschmidt (Albany Area) and Wayne Ribsy Petermeier, (Browerville). Stewart Groskreutz of the Stillwater Gazette will enter under the Citation Division.

Williams has been the head coach of the Huskies since 1996 and has guided the program to five Prep Bowl appearances, capturing three Class AAAAA state championships along the way (2013, 2017 and 2018).

Throughout his tenure, Williams has captured 10 district/conference championships and 10 Section 1 titles. He’s been named the league’s Coach of the Year on eight occasions, the Section Coach of the Year nine times and been the recipient of numerous Minnesota coach of the year awards.

The hall of fame ceremony will take place on April 6, 2024 at 5 p.m. at the Doubletree Hotel Park Place location in Minneapolis (1500 Park Place Boulevard, Minneapolis, MN 55416).

The evening will also recognize the 2023 district, section and class coaches of the and announce the winner of the Butch Nash Assistant Coach of the Year.
